Default Any Good Lawyers recommendations for VA speeding Ticket

Last week, i drove from NJ to Dallas, tx in my GS and received a speeding ticket on I-81 in VA (Smyth County)...Cop pulled me over at 5 AM for doing 86 in 70 Speed Limit Zone.

My Speedometer showed under 80, Not sure if these cops are just handing out tickets to out of state drivers to generate revenue.

Long story short, cop cited me for Reckless driving by Speed, since anything over 80 MPH is automatically reckless driving, pretty lame if you ask me.

This is my first ticket in years, and for sure i was not driving recklessly, I-81 is a long stretch of highway (semi Hilly) with no traffic whatsoever.

I def. don't need this reckless driving charge on my record, if you guys can recommend a good lawyer please advise.

When they send the ticket in....Lawyers will get in contact with you about handling the case...they almost always get the ticket knocked down to faulty equipment which carries no points...or....you can call some attorneys in that city or county to handle it....usually cost around 250 plus the fine for faulty equipment....they (VA) just want the money.....I've been through it in VA and NC.

I had a good experience with a lawyer who cost me $500 but got everything dropped. I'm not sure if he would do Virginia he had helped me out in Howard County, MD. The cost was $500 and I had asked him the night before because I was lazy about finding a lawyer. If I had more time, perhaps I could have gotten the price lower.

I got Nailed in Howard County (The equivalent of Virginia when it comes to speeding tickets - the two places I try my hardest not to speed). It was speeding and reckless driving - and then I found out I had a suspended license for not making a court date I didn't know about it. It was a messy situation. He got everything dropped. It helped that I went and got my driving report from the MVA

Sucks to hear. VA has always been known for their enforcement of speeders. I was down there last week in a rental and recall seeing several cruisers parked along the highway waiting. My co-worker received a ticket in the mail this week after he was busted by a speed camera I believe in VA too. Best of luck
