Timing Belt/ Waterpump job in DFW? Where'd you get yours done at?
It's about time for my GS300 to get a new timing belt/waterpump and I was wondering who you guys have used and how your experience was.
I have a guy who usually does it for around $550 ( about 250 in parts/ $300 labor) but before I go to him, wanted to see your responses.
Thanks

Well I use myself. not a bad price. I would do for around 480-500 and have it done that day no problem right now seeing how SLOW it has been. Need the work I am in North texas Allen area. could do at my house, Jefftsai house ( can vouch im pro) =) or the shop we do most all are work at. which is in Allen tx . that's all we do is build and fab monster 2jz builds. I myself have had a 700hp street car is300 and now a 1000+ supra (currently rebuilding) and have changed more timing belts then i can remember. I am a mechanic/fabricator/welder/tuner and know wth i am doing... hit me up if you ever need anything done. OEM to straight race all the same to me. christopher.roberson@yahoo.com

Hey thanks for the info... Yeah Jeff has worked on my car before ( almost all front suspension bushings)...
So is your quote with OEM parts or aftermarket parts? If I got the parts, how much would you charge just for labor? I'd get the belt, waterpump, cam seal, crank seal, coolant, and anything else you suggest that could be replaced at this time (car has 163k miles on original timing belt i believe.)
I just changed the spark plugs and valve cover gaskets about 3 weeks ago so other than that, I can't think of anything else needed for the "90k" tune up.
Where about in Allen is your the shop you use at?

Try Auto Science in Carollton. I got my GS400 serviced there last week. The basic timing belt and water pump replacement service is about < $800. I had my timing belt "90k" service and A/C compressor/dryer replaced at the same time which saved some money on labor, along with a couple of odds and ends which totaled $1600. By comparison, the Toyota dealer I went to quoted me $1800 to do the compressor and $1500 for the timing belt service. The job took a half day, and they used OEM parts from Sewell Lexus but at a slightly cheaper shop rate.
The shop specializes in Lexus and Subaru cars and engine builds, plus the owner (Ryan) is a former Lexus cert. tech so he knows the cars well.
