Default Backroads in North Texas

Does anyone know of any areas or roads in North Texas that are good for some backroad driving?

out by my house! i live outside of west fort worth, Aledo, Texas to be specific. good pavement, windy corners, straightaways, and its all cop free. it would be good to take those roads on a cruise out to mineral wells airport for an autocross day, or drifting competition.

- Go to Frisco and head north on Preston all the way up to Sherman. It really gets fun right after 380. Watch for drops in the speed limit though since you're going through small towns.

- Start at Paige(Plano Parkway) at 121 and head south. It'll eventually curve and get back to the tollway. This will take about 5-10 minutes for each run but it's really fun.

- Start out in Forth Worth and drive to towns like: Dublin, Mineral Wells, Weatherford, Granbury, Cleburne, Aledo, and especially drive around Possum Kingdom Lake.

- Head up to Denton and drive around those German towns. I have to get the routes for this one but they're fun too.

Yes, I do this a lot

Denton has some good ones. We usually do TOm's windmill drive hosted by the s2k guys. He hasnt posted one up yet so dunno if there will be one this year. The s2k/miata forums are the best place to hunt for backroads. Mini forums also.

117 through Mexia or 171 across northern tarrant county are both fantastic roads to open her up.

Go North on 75, and west on FM455... take it all the way to I35 and swing back into town via I35/635

Don't forget a pit stop into Clarks BBQ in Tioga.

I just bought a SC430, cant wait to go...

PS - Tom's turbine drives are good, I just do not like to drive that fast...

I bet TXPhantom can make those turns faster than I did. I'm a granny driver and a cruiser at heart.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that... I am still getting used to the SC, I am not used to driving such a large car... It’s 1000# heavier than my S2000 was... Loving it though... I cant wait to get it cleaned back up tonight after all this rain!
