Default June '14 - Please NUMBER and post your pics of the month here

Was at the San Diego Junior Golf Association in Escondido yesterday. Spectators were limited so I just hung out and snapped from the 18'th. It was hot.

The USS Ronald Reagan was anchored off the coast of Santa Barbara last weekend.

SB350 How far off the coast did the USS. Ronald Reagan drop anchor? Pretty cool to be able to see it like that.

It was anchored about 1 mile out. It's pretty impressive seeing that ship in person off our coast. Its size dwarfs everything else in proximity. It was anchored for 3 days and the 3,200 person crew filled downtown for the weekend. Every couple years, the USS Ronald Reagan would come for a few days and this was its final visit as its permanent home will be in Japan for the next 10 years. I'm pretty bummed that I missed out on a tour of the boat. The tickets sold out in a couple minutes and the wait list was a few hundred deep.

Here's a crappy panorama I made showing the Reagan's proximity to the Santa Barbara coast:

nothing special, but I thought people should not forget what happened in Beijing a quarter of a century ago. Mods let me know if this is too political and I can take it down.

Thanks for posting those Kaydee. That year my folks had planned a China trip with other stateside family members to visit relatives. This happened 2 weeks before the departure so the trip was scrubbed. The succeeding years, family wasn't inclined and or scheduling was not timed so that all could go in one group. In the end, my folks didn't get back and that was pretty disappointing for them. Mom's older sister passed on and she hadn't seen her in some 40 years except through pics.

Went chasing trains yesterday. The freight train hunt was a massive failure, just didn't have the right timing so nothing passed me.

1. Fullerton Station. Trains about every 20 minutes, wasn't patient enough to sit there but I did get one train. The station pic was nicer.

2. Anaheim Stadium Station and a shot of the stadium.

3.

4. My fav of the day with two trains arriving at similar times.

5.

6.

7. The future Anaheim rail station under construction

537 frames and about 14 different trains, picks so far. Just pretty much same train with different numbers on them. Few techniques to try but enjoyable practice for that time when photographing the trains in Japan.

There was a small temple I was looking for in east Honolulu one day. I want to say around Koko Crater area but I'd have that data in the GPS so I'm not sure. Kept missing it and with the evening rush hour, making U-turns became increasing difficult so we headed on. Same with Sanju Pagoda in the Kyoto Gardens, on the list but didn't get there.

A handheld G9 shot from early this evening. I was expecting it to be blown but the tiny sensor managed to get this much. Shooting the G9 above 100 ISO is Will have to try it on a tripod and see if it does any better.
