Default May '13 - Please NUMBER and post your pics of the month here

Took the 40mm out today to do some random shots. The intent of this lens is for stitching projects and home on the 5D-C. The full size stitch of this is pretty nice. Details of the homes across the lake and on the shirt of those midway is quite impressive. At f5.6-8 it responds as expected and this lens is a terrific bang:$ ratio. It isn't quite what I want in terms of field of view though. Camera handling with this tiny lens is quite good.

That's really nice. How many shots did you stitch together?

I was thinking about picking up this lens to use as a walk-around.

This is 2 frames with the camera in landscape orientation. This is a nice walk around lens and nicer IMO than the 50mm for general use. At the current $150, I'd say buy it.

Do it! It's a fun place to be until the humidity kicks in in the summer

Yeah we really lucked out. Apparently it was one of the earliest blooms they've had in a while

Some additional with the 40mm. This is a 3 frame stitch that in conversion is unadjusted for the falloff at the corners. As well, using the circ polarizer compounds the exposure adjustments due to the changing camera orientation and reflected light.

At f7.1, there is still obvious vignette issues, mostly correctable in post. This is why I like the Noblex panoramic film camera. While not as wide, for motion and skies it makes panoramic life so easy. Give & take though, digital capture is far easier.

When we visited the Byodo-In Temple there was bus load after bus load. What time of day was this one? About the only pic I was happy with was the koi pond. This was well back in '98 and I had the Bronica 645 and Nikon F4s rig.

Between all the Japan pics and your Oahu shots, I want to travel.

yeah, this place gets packed from all the bus loads of tourists.
if i shoot here, i only go when they first open at 830 and only spend a half hour at the most. on sunny days, this place can be crowded 15 minutes after they open. it's hard to tell but it was raining this morning so that might have helped to keep it quiet.

Pic from one of the high end fashion shoots. Canon 1Dx, Leica 100 2.8 APO, Briese Focus 180 parabolic reflector with modified Broncolor Scoro lighting. Most power used during the shoot in the large church was 25 watt seconds, mainly due to the size (6 foot diameter) parabolic. Shot wide open at f/2.8 for shallow DOF. The Leica consistently outperforms my 70-200 2.8L EF IS II by a huge amount.
