Hey there... the charcoal Zone 1s are actually brushed and then have a semi-transparent tinted ceramic clear coat over them. This is so you can still see the brush marks underneath. I haven't been able to find a powder coat that even looks close to this finish.
There is a shop out here in Santa Ana, CA that does the finish but the wheels would need to be completely stripped first, then brushed & clear coated. I'm not sure how well it would work on a cast aluminum wheel (versus a forged wheel) but you could try it. The shop that does is currently moving into a new building and will be down for about two more weeks. My guess is that with the stripping and everything you'd be looking at about $200 per wheel to replicate this look. I can give you their number if you're interested.
Yep, still designing wheels - have five new styles (not Zone) coming out in March of this year!
Hey Bob I saw the wheels you sold that were on the GS......I love the brushed Titanium color....sorry to bother you but can you give me any tips on how to have mine finished like that? I messed up and bought some MMRGT-1 19s......they will never be anything special but the color is hyper silver and my car is black......the titanium is my fav look. Can I just have them powder coated? Again I appreciate your time here....sure you are busy. Thanks for the inspiration!! Are you still designing wheels?
