Default Obd ?

I was reading up on the OBD stuff trying to find a carchip for obd1 and pre-obd..

Pre-OBD is basically OB1 with OBD0 internals.

So are 89-91 cars "pre-OBD" ,92-95 "OBD1", and 1996-current "OBD2" ?

I guess a 1990 LS is "pre-OBD"

Lvangundy,
OBD II is "standardized" ECU readouts based on SAE and EPA reccomendations to simplify the test/repair method of OBD cars. 96+ cars will have OBD II, but any car previous to 96 that is computer controlled and has a "check-engine" light is OBD " On Board Diagnostics ". There was no standard up until OBD II was implemented. A 81 Camaro Z28 with computer controlled ignition timing has a check engine light and can be termed " OBD " it only monitors onboard ignition timing and fuel. As more and more things became electronic, more and more things were monitored. What type of carchip do you mean? If it's pre OBD it's probably carbuerated and vacuum advanced timing... no computers, no chips
