Default GS300 Timing Belt

Hey fellow lexus owners,
I am new to my GS and was wondering what a typical timing belt, water pump, and idler tension replacement costs. I would provide a kit I purchase from Lexus. I'm asking because of the large range of quotes I have recieved (1344 from Lexus dealership, 450 from local shop). Thanks

Sometimes you get what you pay for. And you also could win or lose with either choice. Here in my area, the dealer was the best bang for the money, all the indys were higher and didn't give a loaner car. If I wasn't doing it myself, I'd go with the dealer, all they do is lexus, the other places do everything so they may not be up to date on any service bulletins and that sort of deal nor the special tools or procedures. Oh and that dealer price includes the parts so you don't buy them separately. Just make sure it includes all the pulleys or bearings etc. And for a fair price comparison ask the indy the price using OEM parts. Hit the dealer up with what an indy will do it for they may adjust the price some to match or at least lower it.
