Unhappy moonroof problem

I have a '92 SC300 and started having problems with my moonroof recently. I am able to open it in the inclined position, but not able to close it. I am unable to get it to retract as well. When I take off the switch panel to manually close it, I am able to once again open it on an inclined vent position, but not retract. It does not close back at all. I end up having to manually turn the screw to close it.
Anyone else familiar with this problem? Will I need to replace the moonroof motor? Of so, where is the best place to get it and how much am I in for??
TIA!
Thom

Sounds like a motor issue. Could possibly be a lubrication problem, but you are probably past that now. In the future, make sure to use some good Toyota brand lubricant made specifically for tracks, etc. It will keep strain off the motor. At this point, I'm afraid you will need to get a new motor. Head to car-part.com. You should be able to buy a used one for substantially less than new. I've never heard of there being much of a problem with these motors going out, so you should be able to get a used one and never worry about it again.
