Is this rust on the undercarriage?
Hello,
I purchased a used 2011 Lexus. I took a look underneath the vehicle and saw something slightly unusual. Could someone confirm if this is rust? Also what part of the car is that?

I see nothing out of the Norm here. It is surface rust. that part is the exhaust. The exhaust on most cars is made from tempered steel rather than stainless because it cant be readily seen, so it will rust. it will take years, maybe decades to rust through though, I would not worry about it.
The alternative is the installation of a full stainless exhaust, which is $$$$, especially in your case because not many lexus models are supported by enough aftermarket to have a full kit available off the shelf. as a result, custom headers will need to be made, as well as all custom stainless piping. This can cost THOUSANDS.
I bought a brand new truck 6 months ago, the driveshaft and parts of the exhaust already look like yours. Completely normal. The temperature swings that occur in an exhaust system make it happen faster. It's not broken, you didnt get taken for a ride based on what I am seeing.

Pretty standard for locations with regular snow fall and road treatment. I'm sure many of your suspension components look the same. I bought my 350 out of Ohio and two years used. My exhaust wasn't near as bad as yours, but I was pretty surprised about the surface rust on my suspension.

i agree - northeast pretty much most cars are like this again just surface rust. Just wash/spray the underneath of the car after those crazy snow salt days
