Default 2015 Lexus GS 350 [Oil Change]

Cars about to hit 5k miles and would like to change oil myself.
Questions.

1. Mobil 1 0W20 OR Toyota 0W20
2. How many quarts will i need?
3. Toyota filter?
4. Anything else I need for a oil change?

First time doing oil change myself. Would appreciate all feedback. Thanks

Lexus changes the first oil change for free but if you want to change it.

1. I use Enoes Sustina 0W-20 or Castrol Oil w/Titanium 0W-20 gold bottle.
2. Your GS takes 6.55 quarts.
3. The OE filter # is 04152-YZZA3
4. There are many Youtube videos on oil and oil filter changes.

Good luck and have fun. Also auto parts stores such as O'Reilly Auto parts will take your used motor oil and oil filter for recycling.

Although you only need to change it every 10k I probably would do the first one at 5K. That is what I'm doing. Use full Synthetic of course. I could be wrong but I think Toyota Oil is just rebranded Mobil One oil, I don't think Toyota makes it. You will probably need 5-6 quarts and should have a little left over, save it for next time. On the filter either one should be find or just go Mobil One for Oil and filter.

Do use your first two free oil changes. Not sure if you can use them at any time but you may be able to. Don't throw away free money (aka something that you already paid for anyway).

hi i was reading your forum.. How does the furst free oil change with lexus work..because i didnot purchase my gs350 thru lexus dealer it was a side dealer but car is still under warranty by lexus. And previous owner never took car for any service issues at lexus i was the first one amd never even did a oil change with them. So would they still give me the first oil change free

Go here, join, log in and register your VIN to see the service history. http://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/history

If you bought it new and it has not had the free dealer service, then, theoretically, they should provide it. It is more than just an oil change, they can also personalize the settings on the remote, Nav and other systems. Check your owners manual.
The first free service is at 5,000 and is just a system check, then at 10,000 they change the oil.

Note my friend just got a 2016 ES 350 and was told it had special break in oil. That the dealer would change the oil at 5,000 miles and at 10,000 miles, only putting in the full synthetic at the 10,000 mile oil change.

I'm old fashioned, I would still do a break-in oil change. if one lifts the hood of a BMW M car, it has a warning sticker that the oil must be changed at 1,200 miles, with BMW approved oil. If you lift the hood of a non M car, no such sticker and they will let you go 2 years or 15k. Why would a non M car deserve less? Physics, is physics. Just like in the BMW world, dealers used to hand wash M cars, but run non M cars through the car wash.

Pretty sure car mfgs no longer recommend the mythical 1000 mile oil change, but I'd do it on a new car...my .02

I'd go with Amsoil and their oil filter. No one else can touch them. 1 year/25,000 mile oil and filter change.
