My car is currently at the dealer for the 60K checkup. I sit down with the service manager and explain that I get certain work done elsewhere and will be replacing some parts soon, so I hoped he could discount me the difference. Conversation went something like this...

Oil & Filter? No, I have another shop do that work.
Tranny Fluid? No, I have a new Torque Converter which will be installed soon.
Rear Differential Fluids and Check? No, I'll have a new LSD installed by end of month.
Spark Plugs? No, Already replaced [with torque masters]
Rotate and Balance Tires? No, I have aftermarket rims and I have another shop do that work.
Inspect the Exhaust? No, I have aftermarket exhaust installed and I have another shop inspect it regularly.

At one point he looked at me with a silly grin and asked what was left. Actually, there was still a lot of "inspections", a radiator flush, a valve adjust, air and fuel filter replacement and things of that sort. They ended up taking about 1/3 off the price.

I mentioned problems I had during a dyno run and they looked at me aghast . Decided not to mention the 1/4 mile drags.

I did a similar FAX to my dealer before my service. A DO and A DON'T list.

Basically, they will only do the items you listed.



You can actually save yourself quite a bit of cabbage.

I would have just asked for a radiator flush, and adjust the parking brake. You could do the air filter. Fuel filter is lifetime and mounted in the gas tank. Valves don't need adjustment unless they are tapping loud. Unless your valve covers were leaking.
