I have performed the two services myself on my SC400. It is very easy to do. The differential has two bolts. One to drain, and one to fill. Open the one on top (filler) first, and then open the drain plug on the bottom. Once all fluid has drained out, replace the bottom plug. Next, insert diff fluid in the top filler plug until it begins to overflow. Replace the plug, and you're ready to go. I used a Valvoline 85W 90 synthetic blend in mine, and it has worked great. Check your owner's manual for the exact weight of diff fluid.

The SC400 calls for the Toyota type IV tranny fluid. I think the SC300 is different. You probably just need Dexron III fluid. Buy yourself 5 quarts, or so. That way, you'll be sure to have enough. Again, if you want exact amounts, check your owner's manual in the maintenance section.

Default You may want to consider...

Having the transmission flushed-where they replace all the fluid in the system (8 qts or so) rather than the 2-3 qts changed during the traditional fluid route (dropping the pan)

If you do a search on 'transmission flush' you'll find that someone posted a link to do this flush yourself (too much for my feeble brain) if you do a search for posts by me (bradster) you'll come across my recent post about my tranny flush (1990 LS400) done by a local Lexus dealer.HTH!

Default All good questions...

I don't have the answers to-call your local (or any) Lexus dealer and it shouldn't take more than a minute to get those questions answered.
