ignition switch needs replace and only have valet key, what are my options
Hello,
I only have a valet key for my 2000 lexus rx300. The ignition switch needs replaced I found out today. I also do not have a master key. So I am aware that I can take my car to local lexus dealer, they can place a new computer and I pay for labor and two keys. They quoted $800 total. My question is I have found a complete set of a computer, ingition, 3 door locks, and the matching master keys for $150.
So my question is can I put those in my lexus and kill two birds with one stone (replace ignition and get master keys working for my car)? Is there programming involved, the set comes from a car with an automatic transmission which matches my car.
Any information will be greatly appreciated!

The swap is pretty straight forward. The only thing that will require programming is the wireless functions of the keys, since that information is stored in the body ecu and not the engine ecu. Your new keys will be able to be programmed though.
