Default CAM sensor Question

2006 gx470, replacement sensor came with a thin flat plate (non-magnetic metal) over the end of the sensor. the screws holding it on have lockwasher. this doesnt seem to be a protective thing for shipping. the oem setup did not have this plate. does the plate stay on?

If the OEM part did not have it, then i would remove it from the replacement part.

i am 50/50 on this. its a hall sensor so i am wondering if this cover is there to help kill off stray signal? the way its built and connected seems a tad overkill from a manufacturing point of view for just being a protective cover for shipping.

1. does look like a protective cover.
2. will it fit with the cover still on? (those screws protrude alot)

according to Beck/Arnley, this is a new Toyota design, so install as is. supposedly a heat shield.
