Scrapping/rubbing sound in 4th gear mostly...carrier or dust shield?
Hi I don't have a mkiv but wasn't sure where to post this but anyways I have a 95 sc300 with a GTE and r154 swap the front shaft of a r154 and rear off a sc300 manual. The carrier bearing from the sc300 manual that is similar to the mkiv supra NA. before I go out and buy a new carrier bearing I just want to make sure that's what it is.. Answer im want to know if it is the carrier bearing or the drive shaft dust shield? The dust shied I already trimmed to half the size since it was rubbing before the swap and ever since I went from w58 to r154 It's been making a scrapping/rubbing sound that seems to be in only really loud in 4th gear BUT ONLY when the car is warmed up not first thing in the morning. Seems to be more in the 2800+rpm range and when my foot is on the gas and only in 4th. All gears shift fine no grinds.
