Sasha,

You're leasing? With all your mods I sure hope you intend to purchase the car at the end of the lease.

Default I hate westside Lexus houston, TX I give them a 2/10

I am with you guys on This.
WESTSIDE LEXUS is crap...When I Went to buy my car from there They tried to sell me a gs3 when I clearly told the F***king idiot that I want a Gs4 and this is what I was willing to pay...oh well, ended up buying from NorthSide Lexus.
Ok first free tune up:
3 things WestSide didn't do:
Rotate Tires, Wash Car, Road test. No real biggie. Just incase they didn't change the oil...I changed it after 1500 miles...it was deep black...hmmm makes me wonder.
Ok when I had my first encounter with moisture in the headlamps...I took it to westside...it is 2 minutes from where I used to work...they said it wasn't a defect and that's how the lights were designed. after reading the forum here...I took it to where I purchased the car NorthSide...which is own by the same people...They ordered new ones washed and vacuumed my car while I waited. Last Time I went to buy some touch up paint for my GS...in my friends 911C4...when I got to the counter they asked me what I was looking for again, for my ES...they had the FAX in front of them with my order for the paint for the GS...

I don't know if it's me but they seems to treat me as if I am some spoiled punk kid who must have rich parents or illegally made money to buy the GS. I am not trying to pick on any of our older wiser friends here, but shouldn't they treat us 20 something with the same amount if not more respect as the 40 & 50+ year old owners? WE are more likely to buy more LEXes in our lifetime since we had an earlier start. Sorry just VENTING!

I totally agree with you. If you can purchase the car they should treat you just as well as any other customer.

Actually, there's good reason for them to treat you EVEN BETTER. Chances are you'll buy more cars in the remainder of your life than the 60-year-old just buying his first Lexus. You represent a lot more buying potential than he does.

Default Young Lexites

Marty is right on – speaking for the other geezers who bought Lexus vehicles – since my current one is 10 yrs old (and I still love it) don’t know how many more I might buy – but my potential for several is zilch! Any young person shopping for a Lexus is demonstrating an inordinate amount of intelligence, good taste, and common sense – seems to me they ought to be treated like a potential source of ongoing sales??? I wonder how many <30 buyers are treated with respect by the dealers???

Didn't mean to clutter up the thread - I'll go now!

My Rating for the Lexus Dealer.

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Name: Lexus Store of Lexington.
Rating: 1.5 out of 4 stars
Recomndation to Others: Not really.
Service Advisor: Poorly knowlegable about the cars they have from Previouse and future Models.

Comments: They are not really that bad but I do get some feelings that they are Over charging me most items and servicing. + when I asked about the new GS430 tail lights they told me it can not be fitted into a GS400 and said that the Tail section was totaly redisigned. (that was certanly not true) as a custom Job they also told me it would cost me 1,100 USD to fit the GS430 lights ,,, In actulay fact it cost me 330 and I myself installed it in under 15mins.

I would never Order or fit anything in the dealer in Lexington, But I would tak the car to them for servicing. and the Loaner car always fun

I bought my car from Rallye Lexus but I dont take my car there for service. I get my service done at Lexus Of Englewood.

Service Dept: Lexus Of Englewood
Location: 136 Engle St.
Englewood, NJ 07631
Phone: (201)8715959
Customer Service Specialist: Peter Faltraco
Rating: ****

The service dept there is great. Peter is very friendly and treats you with respect. They seem to be on top of problems. As far as CD changer problems and Plastic undercarriage problems I had. We will put this to the test come Friday when I ask about ECU/TRAC upgrades. The staff there is equally friendly and knowledgable. Im even allowed in the work area to check the work. They even showed me an IS that they were painting the rims on. They call me after every service to make sure everything was satisfactory. Service is completed in a timely fashion. Usually within a hour to an hour and a half. The loaners are Lexus models. I have found that they are a bit pricey when it comes to scheduled service IMO. But they do everything they have to and more. But we are talking Englewood. I would definetly recommend them. If there sales staff is anything like there service dept. Ill be buying my next car from there as well.

Dealership Name : Bay Ridge Lexus Parts Dept/Service
How would I rate it : 1/2 star !
Location : 63 street between 8th and 9th AVE, BKLYN NY

I don't like it there AT ALL ! Makes people wait HOURS for service and gets an attitude if you drive in with a modified Lex.

There is ONE guy over there that is cool. I think his name is either RAMON or CARLOS. He has whitish/grey hair and is usually the guy who you ask to get some parts for you.

PLEASE FORGIVE THE LONG POST BUT I THINK IT'S JUSTIFIED.
I recently bought a GS430 over a Mercedes E430 and several other possible models, mainly for the reasons discussed in the letter attached below.

Keyes Lexus - Van Nuys, CA
Rating, 4 stars
Recommend this service/parts dept? Yes on Both
Service advisor = Allen Pliss - Mike is nice also.
Service Tech (I think now Shop Foreman) = Ed Lujan. Also the team leader that took over Ed's prior team is a good guy; I'm kicking myself for forgetting his name right now...
Comments.... Great !! I go nowhere else any more.
Parts = Norm
Please see copy of letter (below) I sent to the head of Lexus America, the dealer owner, and five others in the Lexus chain of command in 1998. The letter was unsolicited and was sent solely based on my satisfaction with the people I was dealing with. Note that since the letter was sent 3 1/2 years ago, Brian and Billy have moved on to other cities, but Ed and Allen are still there, they have taken on greater responsibilities, and I am as please as I was back then.

============================================================
Text of Letter follows:
============================================================

January 14, 1998

James Press
Vice President & General Manager Lexus America
19001 South Western
Torrance, CA 90509

Dear Mr. Press

I’ve been a Lexus SC400 owner for several years now and I have to say that it’s been a good experience as well as a surprising one. Over the years I’ve always been one of those people who likes to change cars every 2 or 3 years just for the sake of variety. I’ve owned BMWs, Mercedes, Porsches, Cherokees, and so on.

I have a problem now. I’m Stuck. I look at and test-drive other cars; the BMW 850, the Mercedes E420, etc., etc. I think about making my usual change for the sake of change, and I just can’t bring myself to do it. I’m hooked on the Lexus experience. The product is well designed and manufactured, the facilities are immaculate, and your general philosophy of customer service is unmatched in the auto industry.

But of all the reasons that I stay with Lexus, the main reason, without a doubt, is the treatment I receive from the service department at Keyes Lexus in Van Nuys, California. And that is no small accomplishment. I’m a meticulous, demanding person who is a fanatic about my cars in general, and I expect good service and quality workmanship. At Keyes though, I don’t have to demand anything, because their level of service is already exceptional. As a result, I can’t stand the thought of getting away from a Lexus because I would lose the level of service that I have become accustomed to and which is so important to me. From a business perspective, your company has definitely benefited from my satisfaction. I know nine people, one neighbor, two friends, one family member, and the rest co-workers, who bought a Lexus due to my positive feedback on the quality of service and a ride in my car. I’m also sure I sparked an interest in other people I never followed up on.

To some extent, my satisfaction is due to your company’s general philosophy regarding customer service. But I’ve been to other Lexus dealerships, and while all of them seem to set the standard that other companies should strive to achieve, the team that I deal with at Keyes is definitely a standout crew even based on Lexus standards. There are several people on the team that I deal with in the service department and all of them are excellent and manage to maintain a friendly and helpful atmosphere. Brian Ochs, the Service Manager, and Allan Pliss my Service Advisor always make an extra effort to fit me into their busy schedule when I have service needs, and both go out of their way to take care of my special requests regarding the care of my car. Also, there are two Internal Team Leaders who have worked on my car that I have to mention. Billy Carr took care of my SC for three or four years and always did an impeccable job, had the patience to put up with innumerable questions that I asked based on my general interest in your product, as well as questions I asked for other people I was trying to convince to buy a Lexus. Recently, Ed Lujan has taken over the team that works for Allan Pliss, and I have been very satisfied with the work that he and his crew have done for me.

The reason I’m writing this letter is that, given the mediocre standards of some companies in the auto industry, it’s good to see that Lexus has pushed those standards upwards, and it should definitely be noted when people like the guys on my service team are exceeding even the high standards that you have established. These guys at Keyes are as good as they get.

Sincerely,
cc: Rick Taniguchi – Lexus National Customer Service Manager
Howard Keyes – Owner – Keyes Lexus
David Ponn – General Manager – Keyes Lexus

Santa Monica Lexus
Rating, 0 stars... RUN FOR THE HILLS !!!!
Recommend this service/parts dept? No
Service advisor = Too much confusion to find out
Service Tech = Don't know.
Comments.... A friend left his car overnight and got it back with over 100 extra miles on it, ashtrays full of cigarette butts (he doesn't smoke) and beer cans on the back seat floor.

Tustin Lexus
(Bought the GS here simply because Keyes couldn't get the car I wanted for at least 2 months because of lack of supply of the 430 with a Navigation package - I called Keyes first to give them a shot at the sale first though and wanted to buy it there - Sy, the sales manager at Keyes is also a decent guy)
Tustin Sales Rating, 1 star - Salesman Nice - Sales Mgr an $#@&%$@*@&
Recommend this service/parts dept? Don't know
Service advisor = ?
Service Tech = PDI only
Comments.... Eeeehh - Seems to be a lot of arrogance.

Although I live in Los Angeles, my family is in NYC.
They own a 1994 LS400 and 1999 ES300.
Here are my reviews...

Manhattan Lexus
NYC, New York
* * * 3 Stars
Service/Parts - Yes
Technician - Don't remember
Comment - Normal Lexus service, nothing outstanding.
Pricing - Average

Bay Ridge Lexus
Brooklyn, New York
NO Star
Service/Parts - NO!!
Technican - They ALL suck!!!
Comment - If you want to get ripped off and get horrible service, then this is the place to be. I've complained to Lexus in multiple letters and phone calls. No idea what is going on. Makes you wait and wait. Such an attitude. The price is insane. Also they ***** up your car and do NOT admit that they did. Not only my car but other people's as well.
Pricing - Don't even bother, you'll get ripped off.

Smithtown Lexus
Smithtown, Long Island (NY)
* * * * (4 Stars)
Service/Parts - Yes
Technician - David or John
Comment - I have to admit that they try. Therefore the 4 stars. But the Service Manager is a complete idiot. I think the Service Advisors are aware of that. They did mess the car one time but they really tried to comfort me and was very apologetic about it. Although it's a long drive for my family, they make the trip due to their effort and courteous dealership.
Pricing - Average.

Don't want to duplicate this thread but would like to solicit some responses from everyone. Two Questions. First, any recommendations for service in the San Jose, CA area? I would rather drive a bit and get good service than just go close if that makes a difference. My second question relates to dealer reaction to mods. How much hassle, or lack of hassle, has been encountered at various dealerships to people modifying suspension, stereo, etc., and then having warranty work done? If it is varying by dealer, which dealers react better to mods? While I am most interested in feedback for the bay area, the mod/warranty issue is of interest for just general feedback as well. Thanks in advance.
