Default loss of throttle power

I have a 95' SC 400 which lost power in the throttle, while I was driving yesterday. It still drives, and continues through the gears, but very slowly, even if I put the gas pedal to the floor. I thought it was the alternator, so had that changed. it was only putting out 12 volts when all lights and radio was on, now back up to 14 volts. it was needed. but the lack of throttle is still there. the exhaust had some rattling sound in it, and when took apart, found the converters honey combs had broken apart and blocked the pipe. cleared out both sides, honeycomb is now gone, and free flowing, but car still has slow take off, or throttle. is there a sensor I'm missing or not aware of, or does this car need to be somewhat backpressured in the exhaust? not sure what is wrong? also noticed the old honeycomb was red hot, could that have messed with the transmission wires which controls rpm? I'm not a mechanic myself, I'm only asking through my mechanic friend. any help would be greatful. Car runs and moves, just really slow?

friend of mine just said to check the air flow sensor, and the throttle sensor. since there is no throttle cable. these two sensors should be cleaned and in sync. could this be my problem. is it worth the diagnostics check?
the engine light is not on, can sensors still fail or be wrong, without any alert lights on?

Reset the ECU first. The MAF could need cleaning, and the TPS could need setting to spec, and you cannot pull any codes unless the CEL is on.Your cat's definitely needed replacing BTW if they were red hot and there were pieces of the honeycomb in the exhaust...
What takes my vote is 1 or 2 of the 4 o2 sensors, or oxygen sensors. Most likely bank 1 and 2, which sit's on the exhaust system before the 2 cat's. The other 2 are just subs I think. They are kinda pricey, around 90 bucks each but if they have not been replaced for a while, you might wanna replace them just to say you did.

I know this sounds crazy, but check both coils to make sure they are firing... the Lexus V8 in those is so well balanced that one coil can completely die and the vehicle still start and run, just not have power...

Chances are if this is the case, the reason the cats were red hot is due to all the excess fuel being burned not in the cylinders but in the cats and exhaust...
