Default 60k mile tune up for my GS cost $1173. Is this right?

I knew going in, that tune ups and what not would be expensive for a Lexus. But I just went through a 60k tune up (I bought it with 49.5. miles on it) and it cost me $1173. I indeed, had sticker shock.

Is this right? The average?

I went to Jim Falk Lexus of Bev Hills, where I bought my 2006 GS300.

Do you have an invoice for the work they did?

Yes. Everything seem to be on the up and up. I'm just wondering if they did stuff they didn't necessarily have to do and if $1000 was the average cost for a 60k maintenance.

Labor and overhead charge for Beverly Hills Lexus dealer, that sounds about right. You should've went to a Independent Lexus specialist, probably alot cheaper and replace only what was necessary.

What did the job consist off? If they are charging retail price for parts, then I can see why it's expensive. Even an oil change cost a whole lot more than the average shop. I would have gone to some other dealership, perhaps a Toyota dealership for the 60K.

Prior owner paid $929.47 for the 60K at a NJ Lexus dealer. That was 5 years ago though.

think of it this way, if anything goes wrong, they cant blame you for not doing the necessary maintenance at 60k and the work done shall be covered under warrenty for x amount of time

I did my 60k service myself. Bought all my fluids from the auto store and had a friend at a shop help me drain and refill my diff/trans/oil and change filters (super easy)... I thnk I have Iridium Plugs in my '03 IS so that'll be around 90k

I think its BS the prices that the dealership charges for such a routine service.
The small amount research that is needed to see what is involved at each service increment is totally worth it. And with great forums like this there is endless information to be had to do almost anything yourself
