Question what is the safest and best way to clean engine

Whats the best way to clean the engine with out damaging anything ?

I never cleaned since i bought the car . Its getting dirty . What products to use ?

I do not recommend treating the underside of the rubber belts, as this makes them reluctant to turn their respective pulleys, with somewhat interesting results. (This is somewhat like waxing brake pads)
