94 GS300 - Musty Stank from AC
Hey guys,
If I don't have my AC turned on, I get a fairly musty smell whenever I have the air turned on. Where on a 94 GS300 would I look to find air filters that I could replace to cure this nasty smell?
Thanks,
Silmeron

2000 GS300 is behind the glove compartment. I think it will show you in one of the manuals that come with the car. Just open the dash and look behind it. the a/c filter is about 9 inches square and about 1/2 inch thick. If you go buy one, just looking at it will help you figure things out. On mine, you have to sort of use a tab and pull it down before you pull it out. I also have to remove a piece on the back of my glove compartment first.

This occurs when the a/c water (or whatever liquid) gets stuck in the collecting pan. It get recirculated whenever you turn the a/c on.
One fix for this is to get the a/c unit serviced and flushed. This is probably recommended if it's never been done before.
Another fix (recommended by dealer) is to run the heater on full blast at max temp. for 20 minutes once a day for 1-2 days to evaporate any left over water in the cooler. You may want to do this at night with the windows down, it's too hot in the daytime. This worked for me temporarily for a few weeks.
