Unhappy Gas gauge 1/4 off???

My gas gauge is about 1/4 off of its normal setting. . . is there a way to fix it by opening up the dash and manually turning the needle with your finger or a screw driver? or am i playing with a bomb thats about to blow up in front of me when i do something wrong?

do not mess with your gas gauge. normally the gas gauge is goverened by a device that acts like a resistor to prevent "floating" measurements of the fuel level. it could be that part that has gone bad. this is usually due to not filling up the tank all the way when u get gas. if you fill up like a dollar or two all the time, ur sure to have messed it up.

Talking

Your fuel pump is cooled by the gas that it pumps; run too low too long means hot pump and premature failure. Ergo, the low fuel light pops on very conservatively.

The fuel level sender unit might be the problem and not the guage itself.
