Default anyone do their own work?

I've recently acquired a 94 GS3 and used the search function to answer most of my questions. However, the search results have not always been helpful as many people choose to have a mechanic or the dealer do the work. I often get confused because some people say they 'change the tps' or 'replace the timing belt' when someone else does it for them. This leaves little or no useful technical information. If there is anyone on this board that is familiar with the 2JZ-GE, the 1st gen GS3, and/or Toyotas in general please identify yourself. If I have any questions in the future, I'd like to email you directly instead.

Thanks

Default shop manuals

I do a lot of my own work and I find the Lexus shop manuals to be of great help. You might start by finding an early 91 or 92 LS400 manual, they have a much greater level of theory of operation stuff than the later manuals.

By all means get the shop manual set that applies to your particular vehicle also.

I have the repair manuals for the car already. I've asked a question earlier regarding the bolt hole that is on the crank pulley (the manual does the state the size) and no one answered. I've searched for timing belt install tips but there aren't any. I guess I need to search harder.

I do all my own work, no matter how major. No matter how much info is on the pages, having a good area to work, all the right tools, and a good intuition makes the difference. Oh yeah, and patience.
