lex430 is absolutlely correct. 100% cotton every time; blends will put tiny scratches in the finish (which Zaino Z5 will deal with). And when you wash the towels, dry them WITHOUT fabric softener sheet thingys.

MAN, I dunno about you guys, but bathroom cotton towels scratch the hell outta my car.
If I try to dry with cotton bathroom towels, small swirls and scratches appear. those things are rough..
anyone else have any recommendations?

I use The Absorber to do most of the drying.
Then I do a final wipe with a microfiber towel.
I tried the California Water Blade, but couldn't get over the squealing noise it made as I wiped it across the paint.

AIR DRY. if you wash it right, you will not have to dry it and will leave NO spot (what is what spot less soap was designed for)
I have never dry my car with anything and I never have spot.

spots dont happen from the soap, it is caused mostly from the dust in the air that falls in the water and sticks on the paint so I dont see how you dont dry ur car and it doesn't leave water spots

Swirls are a fact of life. Nothing will prevent them, the finishes are just softer than grit. Tried the Absorber and while I was somewhat pleased, things are not looking very good now. I will go back to cotton or microfiber for six months (after re-Zainoing) and then see. Only rule is to never, never use a dry anything to dry the car. Even cotton should be soaked and wrung out. Best way to reduce swirls is to eliminate grit before you start drying, flood the car in the final rinse, and then use clean towels. If you are picking up any dirt from the car, switch towels and do a better job washing next time. Drying is drying, not washing.

When you're done washing the car, take the sprayer off the end of the hose and let the water flow freely on each panel. The sheeting action of the water helps take most of the water off, and makes drying the car much easier.
