Service questions
Guys,
I have a question on how much I will be looking at to pay for these services to my car. I was wondering if you guys could give me like a ball park figure before I go get some estimates. I own a 2000 GS400 and these are the services I will require. I am thinking about taking it to Toyota or this local mechanic I know that works on import cars.
1) New starter ( I already know it's expensive )
2) State Inspection
3) Oil change
4) Flush and fill antifreeze
5) 4 new tires 225 50 16
6) New battery
7) New wiper blades
Thanks for any input that you guys give me.

There are several levels of quality on rebuilt starters. You need to be careful.
Unless you have a coupon, this price is probably fixed. At least it is in Virginia.
You can get cheap oil and a cheap filter that is probably worse than no oil change at all. Even though dealers will use an OEM filter, the quality of oil they use varies. I spend $17 just for my oil (on sale) and filter. You can get independents doing oil/filter changes for that much. They're almost sure to use inferior oil and an inferior filter.
Again, the Toyota regular or long-life antifreeze is far more expensive than regular stuff.
I'd go to Costco for tires. Good Michelins are probably twice the price of some other brands.
I'd go to Costco for the battery too. There are all different prices/qualities of batteries.
Same as most of the above. I'd stick with Toyota/Lexus brand wiper blade inserts and do it yourself.
