Which M1 filter for GS430?
I need some help guys, I bought a Mobil1 oil filter m1-102 but it doesn't look like it will work on a GS430, it's a lot smaller, tread pattern looks like it will fit but looks different than my stock Denso filter. Is there a way I can check which M-1 filter will fit?

Peter,
The M1-102 is the correct filter for the GS430, I have one sitting in my garage. There should have been a fitment guide at the store where you picked up the M1 filter. I double checked before purchasing mine and the M1 guide said M1-102 for the GS430, so you have the right filter. As to why mine is in the garage and not on the car, my dealer went with the stock filter instead, said I should use that filter, but I have M1 5W-30 in my car. Hope this helps you.

Canaan, cool now I am sure it's the right one. The store I bought it was at K-mart and there was no guide and the people working there dosen't know either. I had my local garage double checked it before I let them install it, they said it's fine too. But I wonder why the size difference? Do you think your dealer was concerned about it too so they went with oem filter instead?
I'll be watching closely for any leaks or engine noise these few weeks, if there's any sign of problem I'll go back to stock filters.

Peter,
The size of the filter may have been a concern, but my service advisor didn't mention any reason why they didn't install the filter. He just said stick with the stock filter, which I was suspicious of but I am fine with now. As for the size difference, I am stumped on that , but I think either filter is fine in all honesty. I wouldn't worry about the M1 filter, as long as it's not some cheap brand you are putting on all should be fine. Let me know if anything pops up with the M1 filter, but I think all will be well with that filter. Safe driving

guys,
long ago i had a similar concern as well, and this is the answer:
M1 and stock lexus/toyota filter are both as good as they are. the only reason that i can think of as to why some dealer would prefer using stock ones v. "outsider" has to to with co/dealer policy on both safety and monetary/profit measure. the same applies to after market mods.....some are cool , other are not.....
