I have a sneaky suspicion that they benefit the service department's bottom line and not much else. This has generally been the case with such products over the years. However, I'm not familiar with that particular line of mechanical goo, so it is possible that your dealer has found something with actual benefit.

You know I was curious about this recently since reading up on the info about fuel system cleaners and the like, and went through my 45k service invoice, and sure as hell, they added "oil additive" and fuel additive" as well.
I almost hope they didn't do the oil additive since I switched to Mobil1 at my 45k service
I will pick some brains when I go in for my 50k service next week.

OK, here is a combined version of the emails I got from my service rep on the additives. HTH
I haven't been to teh page to see additional info yet....
To anwer your question about the fuel and oil additive I'm writting you exactly what it is printed in the cans:
BG44.- Quicly and effectively cleans the entire fuel system, including fuel injectors, intake valves, ports and combustion chamber. Because it provides efficient removal of upper engine deposits. BG44 reduces problems caused by deposit buid up such as engine surge, stalling, stumble, hesitation and power loss.
MOA.- It prevents oxidation and thickening of motor oil under even the most severe stop-and-go, high temperature driving conditions. It fortifies high quality motor oil to provide superior long-lasting engine protection and help maintain optimum engine performance.
We only add the two fluids on the large services (15,30,45,60k etc) however when the time comes and if you don't want them in your engine we will be more than happy to follow your instructions and perform services as you request them.
