Default Timing Belt Question?

Hey guys,

It's time for me to get my timing belt changed. Are there any other belts or items i should get changes while i am doing this maintenance?

Timing Belt?
Drive Belt?
Water Pump?

Also, I remember getting some good prices from Steve Ganz. I was wondering if anyone has his contact info (Man, it's been a long time since i've been on here).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!

What is the vehicle mileage?

If you coolant was replaced with the correct type at the 60K maintenance procedure, and today the coolant looks fresh; then the water pump should be fine. If not, the pump replacement may be good insurance.

By drive belt, you mean the serpentine belt?

I would replace it with the timing belt.

Don't forget to address the rest of the fluids.

FYI:

I've had this "growling" sound coming from my engine and I wasn't sure what it was until I dropped it off at the dealership. They took a look at the drive belt tensioner and said it was shot. Price on that part - $220. I know - it may be higher than normal but eh- that's fine. Fluids and everything else were replaced 3k miles ago by Todd at TM Engineering. I'm getting my timing belt changed out on Monday. All for $600. I know it's a lot of money but eh, I'd rather have it done and have a Toyota service record saying it has been done vs some private garage.

Car has 120k - belt has been replaced at 60k already. I went 60k in 2 years.

So long story even longer - if you are getting your timing belt changed - you might want to check out the drive belt and the drive belt tensioner. After reading a few threads on here - I've come to the conclusion that the drive belt is a pretty easy thing to swap but the drive belt tensioner might be a diff story.

btw- drive belt = serpentine belt

I would rec. getting the drive belt, water pump, and cam and crank seals replaced while the technician was already in there. The odds of them leaking in the future before the next timing belt is due is high (every 90k miles).I would have the tech also look at the timing belt tensioners as well. The drive belt should be no extra labor since the belt or belts have to come off when doing a t-belt.To do the water pump.cam seals, and crank seals is about 2.5 hrs additional labor on top of doing the timing belt.If the water pump and seals were replaced at a later date, then the labor would be around 7.5hrs.
