Service Charge for 50k vs Doing it Myself???
I'm coming up to my 50k service, and I was wondering if anyone knew the things that I would need to do everything myself. I used to work on my previous car, but have never worked on this one yet. I guess it's time to start, because these do-it-yourself service savings can mean upgrades to my car a lot faster. Especially if I save that money--you know. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Not Much to Do!
AP - If U've kept up with the maintenance from Day 1, all that's due @ 50k is an oil/filter change & the usual inspection of the air & A/C filters; fluid levels ( brake, steering & ATF ) & just a general once-over of the whole car. According to my maintenance guide, the biggest/costliest service to date was due at 30k ( oil/filter job; both air & A/C filters changed; ATF & differential fluids changed; plus changing the coolant ( 100k stuff? ) & fuel filters. My dealer wants $604 for that service. Now at 60k is the biggest one - all of the previous plus a new timing belt & spark plugs - $1003!! If U're handy with a wrench & don't mind getting dirty, all this ( with the possible exception of the timing belt ) is easily done with standard tools. The parts might run ya $100-$200 but U'll save alot on labor. Might want to purchase a shop manual - at least the mechanical volume ( #2 ). Good luck!
