Default Wiper replacement

I have been experimenting with variety of wiper blades and installed 24" long wiper on my SC300. Yes people 24" and it fits just fine, OEM is 21" long. THIS IS FOR DRIVER SIDE ONLY. It will have wider area to wipe, and will make those triangular smaller (about 2"x2") (those part that would not get wipe in the middle of the windshield)

Do not change the passenger side since it bow up (if you look closely, you will notice it), if you change the passenger side with after market, it will not wipe properly (especially the corner 1/4 part of the windshield) and it would add wind noise on high speed or skipping while driving on highway on rainy day.

There are many replacement and manufacture of wiper blade. BOSCH do not sell wiper insert anymore (or so I heard, you have to buy the whole blade). And the NEW 24" BOSCH excell do not produce have those mini wind deflector anymore (those metal that deflect the air, like a mini spoiler on wiper blade) so I bought the new one an swap the insert (you would need a plier).

I am not affiliated any vendor, it's just one of many Brand wipers laying in my garage, havent try for diff brand yet. like ANCO, PIAA etc..

Hope this would be usefull :-) I ll post picture soon

i wanted to install the wipers from an IS250/350 onto the SC, the sizes are exactly the same and the wipers are more "smooth" and should be quieter. but my dealer cost on them mugs is like $60...no thanks

I made a mistake and submitted an online order for wipers. And I will get an Genuine OEM on the driver side and a BOSCH excell on the passenger side. I called them 1 minute later and asked whether I could change the passenger (BOSCH) one to OEM, but they said they couldn't change the order. Not sure how the mixed brands work ...

I use BOSCH 24" excell and OEM for the passenger. BOSCH 24" blade cost 16.99.

I wish I would have read this a couple of weeks ago. My SC had aftermarket wipers on it when i bought it. I wasnt happy with their performance and thought it was because they were worn out. Nope, the new Boschs do the exact same thing as described above and its driving me crazy. I guess i'm going to have to shell out the $ for OEM wipers and then next time i'll be able to replace the blades only. I'm going to try the 24" drivers side wiper....sounds like its a nice setup.

Anyone thought about swapping in some BWM wipers? According to this website, the 540i came with dual-bladed wipers. I would guess that they are better

my 550 has some nice slick blades but the clip is totally different than the lexus/normal type so i wouldnt even bother..

im curious to see if a GS drivers side and a IS passanger size will work tho. if i get curious enough ill see if i can snag a pair and take pics

I paid the same for the passeger side, 24" was from my friends car I forgot its the LS 430 or the LX front wiper if you want OEM LEXUS. 24" will wipe better.

just remember my note: try to find wiper with the mini spoiler.

Bought a crapload of Bosch microedge inserts off ebay a while ago. I change them maybe every 2 years. I reuse the OEM wiper housings though. The Bosch came with end caps which keep the aftermarket blades secure in the OEM wiper housing. They work great and I have no complaints. I also bought aftermarket wipers prior to this and they sat too high and the passenger side did not fit correctly. I painted then baked the OEM wiper housings and arms awhile ago since they were pitting and the aluminum underneath was showing.

Too bad Bosch doesn't sell just inserts anymore.

the reason I swap the insert is because the NEW Micro Edge 24" do not come with mini spoiler (Driver side) (the old one does). Both fits good and wipe clean not noisy or flapping on high speed highway. I kept the passenger OEM. New Lexus Insert cost me ($3.xx something) $4 from Lexus dealer.

Angry How to remove old insert?

I bought couple of OEM refills (insert) to replace the worn ones on my GS4 but I'm having a heck of a time removing the old rubber insert from the blade arm. I used a pair of pliers and squeezed down the large end the rubber insert and started pulling at the same time. The insert rubber got stretched a bit but refused to come loose. What am I doing wrong? Hope you guys can help. Thanks.
