Default my "check battery" light flashes on then off intermittently

it's a pretty new battery. what gives?

Your alternator is going bad, replace it.

test the battery,connections, and your drive belt first. I just had the same problem. It was the alternator. $250.00 out the door U.S.D

i moved the terminal on the battery around to clear out any fouling to clean the contact and haven't had any issues yet.

now it came back.

i had the alternator and battery tested and they're fine.

what gives? loose connection somewhere?

Yeah, loose battery connection terminals will cause that and that's probably what was wrong. That happened to my car and that fixed it.
