Is the head populated with the valve train when you send it out?

why dont you just find a machine shop and walk it in there yourself? you can get the head shaved for under $100, at least i know a machine shop in brooklyn that does it

Many machine shops don't like to mill aluminum heads with the cams and valve train installed. They will disassemble them prior to milling and reassemble prior to returning to you. Inquire as to their experience milling heads such as yours, and their experience putting them back together if disassembled and cleaned.
