Default What is involved in a tune up for the SC300

Im geting bad gas millage and under normal performance when driving, I need to do a full tune up I have no idea when the last mant. was done.

First question, what do you guys mean when you say change rotor...? im confused(only rotor I know is the 2 that are in a 13b)

Wires???Once agian im confused...

Where are the spark plugs located on car? They over the center for the block?

What else should I do?

Timing belt,,, im a little afraid to do this myself. I think im gona take it in to a toyota dealer to do this.

Yes im young and trying to get some time in under the hood. Luckily I live on a farm and have just about everything tp do all the work myself. Big post lift, tools, air tools, pretty much all the goodies.
I still need a workshop manual for this thing too, or the CD. My internet doesn't load Ebay right so I can't find one on there.
Thanks for all the help guys.

your best bet would be the repair manual.

Yes, it's expensive, but the diagrams and step by step instructions beat the snot out of anything you'll get in a Chilton car repair manual.

Also, do a search on it, I know people have posted pictures and how-tos for this stuff before.

Ninja Edit:

You'll proably want to do:
Spark Plugs, Wires, Distributor Rotor & Cap... to see how the distributor rotor works, your best friend is google

mainly distributor cap, distributor rotor, spark plugs, spark plug wires, id check or maybe replace the 02 sensor also since youre getting bad gas mileage. Be sure your filter is clean and tire pressure is to spec for mileage purposes

If its time for a timing belt change, you might as well change the water pump while the engine is opened up. You usuallly do timing belts around 80k-90k on more modern cars, back then it was around 60k.
