Default show your pics of your skanky a/c cabin filters!

to the left is a 7 year old filter from my GS400, and to the right is a 4k mi old RX300 filter from my mom and dad's RX300:

yes i know... it's supposed to be white

i've since replaced both filters with a blitz washable/reusable filters (blue filter on the left in pic)

don't yell at me about the GS one! i bought the car with the filter in that condition... and what is worse, the car was dealer serviced. and to think i wondered why the dash vents weren't pushing any air...

Many of the Lexus A/C cabin filters are charcoal-impregnated (for odor removal). So to those who haven't seen a new charcoal filter before, they are often mistakened as being dirty because of the charcoal coloring. Now, if you started off with a white filter and it ends up charcoal in color, then it's actually dirty.

Guys,

GS is using charcoal filter which will perform better than
the Camry shared RX/Sieena/ES cheap A/C filter.
If you look at the filter material, you will find out that the RS is 3X~4X thicker
that the thin film RX type filter.
DIY part price:
GS A/C filter cost around $45.- each (dealer cahrge $65.- during service)
and the RX one is $25.- range.
It looks like Blitz one has an additional layer on top of the filter
-very inetresting ! Reusable one !

I wonder how many times I have my filter washed since my last service ?
At least a couple times. (with two filter to rotate)

The filter on the left looks vaguely familiar. but the RX filter is white on both sides as far as I can tell - though I wish it had a true HEPA and charcoal - but there isn't much room in there for much more filter area.

E-man's from his thread on how to replace one on a GS:

That would explain this smell when i start up the ac..and would it explain the burnt smell i get when i turn up the heat? LOL oh man this is great!

j, that is amazing, I'd change at 3-5k if mine turned that dark at 10k, wow. I'll post mine when I change it out. I tried Filtrete too but geez it didn't turn that dark. Do you do city driving?

I had not cleaned mine out since December 2004 and this is one year of Mexico City crud. RX300 filters just cannot show that dirt like the other ones above, but look at my hand.
