60k Service
#1
I have a 96 LS just turning 59k miles -- just purchased it and in pristine condition -- seems to have been very well taken care of.
I am sort of a semi-expert on cars (family used to own dealership years ago and I personally used to work on cars as a hobby)
and have owned many Toyotas as well as other brands -- most of the time servicing at a dealer is rediculously costly and unnecessary and I have my mechanic do it (he's unbelievable -- and very reasonable -- been working on my cars for 22 years)-- however:
I thought that because this was a major service I would call the Lexus dealership nearby just to find out what is recommended and how much. After I stopped laughing from sticker shock -- $785.00 for 60k service + $225.00 to change transmission fluid (not to mention $670.00 for rear pads and rotors) I called my guy --
he wants $225.00 for brakes and $200.00 for service -- seems reasonable to me!!!!!!!!
Any reason that I should go to the dealer that anyone can think of?????
Has anyone had any concerns with aftermarket parts with Lexus????
Thanks

Is your car certified? Once you pass 60K you're screwed. What's your warranty? Lexus will give you three years and 40K more miles. All of a sudden that price isn't so bad in my opinion.
