car wont start, battery problem?
i dint kno what forum to put this under, but just last week my alarm went silent on me, and i thought it was an alarm problem, but just two days ago at school, my car didn't start. i thought at first it was a starter problem, but it never gave me problems b4, i think i was wrong. maybe soemthing wrong wit the batterY? even though my current battery is 1 year old. anyways i jump started the car at school and got home safely, it started up immedietly. just today my car started working all normal again, and the alarm also sounding like it used to. what could the problem be?

This is my proceedure for checking the charging system. i do it every three months.
Using a digital volt meter, connect across the battery using correct polarity... doors closed, radio off, all accessories off ... 11.0 Volt to 13.2 Volt (ballpark)
Start the car, watch the voltage dip down as the starter cranks... as low as 10.0 Volts...
As the car starts and idles .. 13.7 to 14.5 Volt (ballpark)
Increase engine speed to 1500-2000 RPM ...Slight increase in voltage then level off....
Back to idle, steady at 13.7 to 14.5 Volt again....
Voltage should be steady and slowly decreasing as the battery is charged. (You are reading the alternator output supplied to the battery.)
Shutdown the engine ... 13.8 to 13.2 Volt (ballpark)...
Disconnect the meter from the battery terminals.
