Default How many shocks to replace?

i need to replace the shocks in my '95 LS but am wondering if i should replace only the 2 front ones or all 4. i want to replace them with OEM shocks and probably install a set of 1" springs.

thanks in advance,

Since its a 95 , assuming theyre the original shocks. you may want to just go ahead and replace them all. Install wont be that much more for 2 than 4. And even if they havnt gone totally bad i would think youll see there is alot of wear that they have taken over the years. Also the new lowering springs are harder on shocks.

Default Great Question!

You do not mention mileage, but if these are oem 95's they need replacing.
Rears are more costly since the back seat has to be removed in the process.

Labor cost more than parts here, so choose wisely. OEM is a very safe bet to retain the stock LS ride. Get away from oem & be prepared to find & hear other shortcomings with your suspension.

The rears have not faced near the beating as your front struts but guess what, they weren't designed to. They are worn out as well.

Just for fun though I would like to hear about ride improvements after doing just the fronts & then doing the rear end at a later date. Labor cost should not change.

sorry, the car has ~128000 miles on it and im somewhat certain they are the original shocks. i should know in a couple days from the original owner if this is the case.

The safest bet would be to replace all 4 shocks, especially if you're not sure if/when they were replaced. Just pay the extra $200 or so to get the rears as well, and you'll be riding on new shocks. It'll be worth it.
