90K mile service
A few days ago I posted that i was looking at purchasing a 1992 SC 300. My boyfriend went to take a look at the vehicle and here is what we now know.
The driver's door may have been hit because the paint is a different color from the rest of the car. Possibly when they repaired it? Because the color didn't match completely.
The dealer selling the car only has records from 1999. WOuld you agree that the 90K service was never done?
How much does the 90K service cost, and what is generally done during that time?
Thank you to everyone who takes time to read this and respond. I am anxious to purchase an SC300 but want to purchase the right one.

Yes, it sounds like the door was damaged. And it also sounds like the fix was a cheap one. When repainting the SC door they should have blended onto the fender and all the way up to the roof. They may have just gotten the same color door off of a different SC, but more than likely decided just to paint the door and hope it fits.
Check in the engine bay to see if there is a Timing Belt sticker - that is an indication - but then again a sticker doesn't mean ***** if someone just decided to stick it on there without doing the work
It all depends where you get the 90k done. They should do TB/Water pump, tune up. Probably also time for a tranny fluid flush. Again, it can range anywhere up to about $2000 at Lexus, so I suggest you bring it elsewhere.

WHo do you trust to service your SC
Everyone-
Who do you trust to service your SC?
If you don't take it to the dealer, who does your oil changes? Transmission flush? water pump etc, etc...

Lexus Test Driver
My previous Lexus was a 93 LS400 and Lexus service here charged about the same price for SC400, GS400.... I had 90K service (this included new timing belt, water pump) and needed a 4-wheel brake job. The total was around $1,800. I usually change the oil, A/T fluid myself and only visit Lexus service for major maintenance such as timing belt and water pump.

Diva,
I did my TB/WP on my '94 ES at lthe local Toyota (Irvine, CA). Including replacing both as well as alternator and power steering belts it cost me about $650 - only about $600 less than both local Lexus dealers quoted (of course, I didn't get loaner).
I think it was so cheap based on a 'coupon' the Toyota dealer had for the TB @ $238 - even my indy guy said do it there for that price. Even when they added the water pump and belts and a few other minor things, I still got out cheap!
I've had independents do the rest with fine success and significantly lower prices.
Reply with general location and perhaps a CLer can recommend a local indy shop for you!
Good luck and enjoy...
