even if the oil lasts up to 15k miles, your filter wont last that long. u end up replacing the filter and adding probally another 1/2 quart to comphensate for lost due to the filter change.

No synthetic oil can hold and suspend 15K-mile worth of contaminants (those that are too small to be filtered.) They end up becoming sludge and choke up the engine eventually. That's why oil should be changed at manufacturer's specified interval. No matter what oil you use: dino, synthetic, or olive oil.

For the RX300 owners: Lexus is offering a goodwill 8-year warranty on the RX300 engine, so why waste money using synthetic? Let the engine die before the 8 year is up, so you can get a BRAND NEW ENGINE from Lexus.

Wrong. They do not holdup contaminants as sludge etc unless the oils add package sucks. My oxd, nox were very low and my TBN still has life life on my 12+ mile change using Amsoil. Again, you the customer needs to buy a good oil (not the walfart kind either). Test some oil, and you will see what I mean.

It is not wasting money. I use a real synthetic since I have better things to do then change oil or have the dealer do it 3 to 4X times a year. Plus the better oil protects longer.

My used oil test with over 12K miles has better numbers then the virgin/unused Mobil EP!

Which demonstrates that oil analysis numbers don't tell the whole story about how motor oil is deteriorating in various ways as the miles pile up.

Saber, let them waste their money on synthetic. Don't waste your time.

Oh, boy. Based on your wonferful post, it is due to poor base stocks and adds.

I can tell you do not understand oil anaysis; because if you did you would understand these basic fundamentals. So run some tests and then post some real info .

whoa whoa, exactly what I asked you guys to refrain from.

Let’s not turn this into another argument please.

SO let’s all take a step back, and get back on topic.

I agree. I will say this, please post real user data on any oil post . I get tired of the same propaganda and flat out "just going by a bottle" or website. Psot something to at least backup the info with data. I am trying to educate people since I seem to be the only one posting real numbers on the oils. Gets boring to no end.

He also is continuing the argument immediately after I asked him not to and calling other member's posts 'boring' .

Please do not continue this type of behavior in future threads or your access will be removed. I would have hoped to see something both on topic and more respectful.
