Thinking of getting a case of this.
It's for the V8, but it does fit the I6. The I6 filter is half the size, and hence has half the filtering capacity. When I had my GS3 I was surprised how small the filter was. Even the filter on my girlfriend's Honda Accord (4 cylinder) is bigger than the I6 filter! I would go with the 90915 line of filters. You might have to add an extra 1/4 - 1/2 quart of oil to compensate for the extra capacity of the larger filter.

If you could find the 90915-20004 filter I would buy quite a few. Check Carson Toyota, they still had a few in stock a couple months ago. Otherwise the YZZD3 is fine too.

Unless someone else speaks up, you may unfortunately be the first to try it on the GS.

If it does thread on and seal properly is there any chance of messing something up? Oil not going in aand out fast enough burning up the engine?

As far as I can tell, this should not happen but it would not hurt to get other confirmations on this. Other than fitment, the other consequence would be oil amount. With this filter being bigger, you will probably need to top off with more oil than normal.

Thanks for the fitment confirmation Gamma. Anything new to add? Was 6 qts too much? Too little? I know even with the 20004, we were at 5+ qts.

Does anyone find the dipstick on the GS300 kind of hard to read? It doesn't have the cris-crosses on it like most other dipsticks have to "hold" onto the oil.

Also, I'm going to be changing my own oil for the first time. Do I need to remove the underside splash guard to get to the drain plug? Does anyone know the exact size of the drain bolt? And it seems like the oil filter can be accessed clearly from above the engine bay, unlike the GS4 where it's below. Is this true?

You don't have to remove the shield completely but if you don't, you'd have to reach in and bend the shield a little. Personally, I remove it to make access easier. As long as it is out, I spray it down and clean it a little. I know it is underneath, but I'm just weird that way.

As for the bolt, going from memory, I believe it is 14mm. The filter can be kind of seen from above but I've always gotten it out from below. The car is already jacked up so ...

Good luck.

so what's the verdict. is the only TRD one to use the huge one Gamma used or is there a medium one too like mikal mentions?

Is the K&N any better than the current 90915-YZZD3 oem? I change every 3k at most and have always used oem.

btw-do V-8 and I6 use same filter?

edit-this place seams to have the old one ??

Why bother with Toyota? I always use WIX filters and like them...

Part number 51348

On www.fleetfilter.com, they have the 51348 listed for $2.72.

I'd rather not put a generic $2 filter on my car. I'll pay an extra couple bucks for oem.
