Default Yuck...just changed the air filter...

thats what was in my airbox, no wonder the car was running like crap!

next week is plugs and wires, fuel filter etc.

i change dthe Filter when there were 140,777 on the Main odo, and 777 on the trip odo, thought that was funny.

i changed the filter, but the car wouldnt stay running with the new filter.
anyway, i pulled the airbox top off after unplugging the MAF, and i looked at the TB. the plate looked ok from the outside when it was closed...WRONG! i pulled the accelerator cable back and the plate stuck unless i gave it a tug, then it came open and i coudl see the nastyness that was my intake. i put some TB/Intake cleaner in the intake while holding open the plate, then i sprayed some on the plate, and wiped the plate off, it may be a half assed job, but it makes a world of difference. i put it all back togehter and started the car...ran like a champ!.

thank you, thank you.

i was VERY suprised at how much of a huge difference i got from just the filter. she hunted for the idle for a while and so i took her around the block, flooring it most of the way...and dam, it made a big difference. see when i bought this car, i checkd the filter, but i only opened the box and checked the top part that you can see without taking out the filter...liek a dumbass, i didnt even think to check the bottom...but Duh!.

BTW i used an STP # 6935 i believe.

I did the same thing until I got my oil changed at walmart and saw another guy changing air filter and asked them to check mine. I looked at it a 2 weeks b4 and it looked fine but never took it out and realized I never checked the bottom. so I got that fram filter for now. I will be changing to lexus air filter and oil filter on my next change. Heard it was better than that cheap fram stuff.
