oil filter

Default oil filter

some how my toyota place stopped carrying the 9091520004 oil filter and just have the 0892202011. has anyone else ran into that lately. i don't know if i should use the 2011 or go aftermarket oil filter. any performance oriented guys please reply. NEED to change the oil soon. thanks in advance

From my understanding, the 08922-02011 filter is the North America version of the Toyota/Lexus OEM oil filter, whereas the 90915-20004 is the Japanese version. The N/A filter is the one most generally supplied by Toyota, and it should not be a problem installing the filter to your car, even if you had been using the 20004 filter before. I'm sure someone here will confirm if this is correct, but that's what I've been told.

the 20004 filter elements are better made. I've researched it now. and for anyone that needs to know. the www.intellexual.net site has updated this issue. thanks for the reply anyways. i should've check that site, i didnt know that it is continously updated.

I have used the 02011 oil filter http://www.saber.net/~monarch/oilfil20211.jpg in my '92 Toyota pickup engine for the past 450,000 troublefree miles: http://www.saber.net/~monarch/449.jpg. So in my opinion this demonstrates how a Toyota owner can't go wrong following the car care advice of the Toyota engineers.

They're both good filters, it's just one is based off a Purolator design.
