1989 Celsior 4L v8. Same as Lexus?
Hello All.
Before I start possibly barking up the wrong tree here, am I correct in assuming that the 1989 Celsior is the same as the Lexus (minus some minor things like upholstery, badges and trim).
Celsior with LS400 4L V8 Auto Sedan
If I'm in the wrong place, just let me know and I'll shut up and go away.
I've never owned on of these cars before, my normal daily drivers have been Toyota, but 4WD's (Landcruiser 40, 60, 75, 105) and a smattering of Nissan 4WD's so this car I just picked up is very new to me.
There are a bunch of things wrong with it, and I dont have a lot of money to play with, so I'm looking to do all the work myself (or at least whats practical for me to do).
First main thing. Steering.
The steering is free (not binding) but there is a huge about 1/6 of a turn play in the steering wheel (I'm not kidding, its huge).
Theres also a bad leak in the power steering fluid somewhere down low, I need to top it up about as often as I fill the fuel. About every 400-500Km (300Miles?)
My main question is, considering its not binding yet, and the tie rod ends / ball joints all look good, am I likely to be able to simply adjust that much play out of the rack via simple adjustment?
or am I going to have to pull the steering rack and recondition it?
Any tips or advice appreciated.
Thanks. Philip Middleton.
