Default Toyota Oil Filter Part Number Change???

Hey,
I was wondering if anyone has run into this and if they know if it's the same element in the filter. Here's the story. I went to my Toyota dealer to get my 90915-20004 Toyota Oil Filter today and found out that the 90915-20004 filter has been superceded by filter number 90915-YZZD3 I believe. Well anyway, I asked the counter guy if the YZZD3 (which is made in Tailand and has Denso printed on it) had the same spoungelike filter element as the 90915-20004 and he couldn't give me a definite answer. I called a couple other dealers as well and got nowhere, other than locating some 20004's.

But my question is... 1. Has anyone run into this? Supposedly the filter number change took plac about a month and a half ago. 2. Also can anyone CONFIRM that the YZZD3 has the same spongelike element as the 20004? Thanks in advance!

This is the new filter from Toyota/Lexus and at this point this's the only filter we can get for our cars. I hope this will change soon. Here's some reading on second page on the maintenance forum.

Default Get them from Carson Toyota while you can. . .

I just ordered some high-quality 90915-20004 oil filters from Bobby at Carson Toyota. He gave me the option of buying either the normal ones (i.e. YZZD3 seres) or the Japanese filters (i.e. 20004 series filters), which surprised me as my local Lexus dealership can't get them anymore (nor can others get them as others have been posting).

Anyways, as Carson Toyota can currently get them, I promptly ordered a case of 10 90915-20004 oil filters for $69.50. Order them while they're hot. . . and available!
