Door Lock Acuator
Guys-
Would a failed drivers side front acuator be covered under a CPO warranty?? Just wondering as I have been quoted $483 to replace this unit in my 98 GS4 which remains under warranty until 11/04.
Thanks in advance-
D
PS-How much did you all pay do have the serpentine belt removed and replaced?? Quoted $142 is that decent??

Yes, your door lock actuator will cover under CPO warranty. The service advisor have to tell the warranty company that your dome light wont' turn off or the headlight won't turn off to make the warranty company agree that there's an open circuit in your door lock actuator.
Your quote for belt is too much. The belt itself will cost around $70.00+(depending on the dealer) and the labor to put it on is .5 hr. So, $142.00 is a little bit too much.

Thanks VVT-i
I noticed after futher reasearch that this was pretty common for 98 and 99's. I hope to resolve this tomorrow with my service guy. Thanks also for the heads up with the belt. Carson toyota seems to be king for OEM parts at killer prices (filters $85 dealer, 21.63 Carson) so I get the belt fom them too.
Thanks again for the reply-

Accessory drive belt change DIY
Changing the accessory (generator) drive belt is actually something that you can do quite easily and without having to worry about tensioning it properly as there is an auto tensioner pulley--just slacken it by applying resistance, then when you replace the belt, it tensions itself.
Here's how to save yourself $70 from the dealer:
HOW TO REMOVE GENERATOR DRIVE BELT
Slacken the belt tension by turning the drive belt tensioner pulley counterclockwise, and remove the drive belt.
Note: The tensioner pulley bolt has a left–hand thread, so it won't get loosened by turning it counterclockwise.
HOW TO INSTALL THE GENERATOR DRIVE BELT
Place the drive belt around all the pulleys according to the picture except for the tensioner pulley. Slacken the belt tensioner by turning the drive belt tensioner pulley counterclockwise, then place the drive belt on the tensioner pulley. Make sure all teeth of the drive belt are in the proper pulley grooves and not sliding off the individual pulleys. Again, no tension adjustment required as it has an autotensioner.
