Question 97 ES300 Spark Plug Replacement

I am going to replace the spark plugs in my 97 ES300. I could do the 3 plug towards to the front without any problem. However, the 3 plugs next to the firewall are very hard to get to. Any tips/hints to replace those 3 ?

Also, I want to replace the distributor cap and rotor too, but I couldn't find them. Where is the distributor located ?

For spark plug and the wire set, I assume that OEM is the way to go, am I right ??

What about the PCV filter ? I would like to replace it too since my car is almost 90k miles on the clock.

Thanks,

Ching-Ho Cheng

on the 3VZ-FE, my local mechanic uses several extensions, and a Snap-On swivel 5/8" spark plug socket. It may work on the 1MZ-FE, but you need patience. Another way is to remove the intake plenum. As for parts, I would go OEM on the filters/wires/cap/rotor, and use either NGK or Denso plugs.

Your 97 ES don't have distributor cap or rotor. Lexus used coil pack, I think on the 97 ES, they used 3 coil packs and 3 wires, each coil pack will have the outlet( one wire) to one of the spark plug in the back bank( toward the fire wall/ bank 1).
I used 5/8 swivel spark plug socket, one 4-5 inch extension, a swivel adater and another 6 " extension. All in 3/8 drive.

Thanks for the answer regarding to the distributor cap and rotor. I will get the swivel spark plug socket for the job. I have different extensions and a fix 5/8" spark plug socket.

What about the PCV filter ? Do anyone know the location of it ??

Thanks,

Sorry, forget about this one. The PCV is on the back bank valve cover(firewall side). If you look on the passenger side of the valve cover under the plenum, you will see a plastic elbow connected to the rubber hose on top of valve cover. That the PCV on ES and can't be service. Just have to replace it.
