98ES milage went down
Ever since I got my wife's ES300 60k miles service, the milage went down. It used to go about 340+miles in about 14gals at refill, but now it goes only about 300 with the same gas. It used to be pretty consistent and so is it now as well. It makes me believe they mistuned or something.
Any idea what change they may have made causing it? Now is the time to get 65K service and I want to know what to ask them to check?

couple things come to mind. Did they adjust the tire pressure when the rotated them on the 60k service.
If you were running a higher pressure, say 33 psi and they adjusted them all to be 29 psi, that may have an effect on your gas mileage.
another thought is the oil they used. If you were running synthetic and they changed the oil and put in conventional, that would drop your usage by about 1 mpg. This happened to me on my 30k service. I just assumed that the dealer knew that I was running synthetic in my car cause they put it in on two separate occasions. No biggie, I just changed it back to synthetic at 33k miles. I gained back the mpg that I lost since the 30k service.
Lastly, when comparing the total miles, was it on one tankful or over the course of several and was the driving style and routes the same as they always been?

They did change spark plugs as part of 60K service. Could it be related to that? Also I smell gas after morning start in my driverway. I do not think the smell was that strong earlier. Any clue?
I check cold tire pressure once every month. This car has driven 5K since 60K service but the gas milage has been consistently low by more than 10%.
This is not the case either.
It is roughly checked every gas tank fillup. Driver and driving conditions did not change either.

They may change the gas cap o-ring on the 60K service and the o-ring was not installed properly. Just remove your gas cap and check rubber o-ring for some sign of twisted or not all the way to the base of the gas cap. Other than that I don't know why your gas mileage went down.
