Question oil filter replacement?

i have an '04 IS300 which uses a 90915-20003 oil filter

would i able to use the 90915-20004 oil filter without causing any negative issues like a drop in oil pressure?

thanks,
chris

As long as it fits a V6 Toyota(lexus) engine, you will be fine. A lot of people here buy Toyota Camry/ Toyota Supra V6 oil filters from Toyota for their lexus as they are interchangeable.

i never took real thought into oil filters. i just got some 7dollar filter from my local auto store, btw it was the most expensive on there if i can recall it was a Wicks oil filter. and always use full synthetic oil.

I can't find any dealers have 90915-20004 filters do you know where you can find?
Carson doesn't have them in stock. Local dealers told me it's discontinued and gave me other part numbers.

I couldnt give you part numbers but Lexus only uses two oil filters. The only difference is one is larger that the other (for the V8's). Assuming the ...4 is the larger of the two I would be careful using them on the IS simply because there is limited space around the filter and it could possibly hit the strut tower. If it fits there would be no problem using them.

I have used the Mobil 1 and K&N filters with good experiences, but like the K&N better.

The 20004 and YZZB9 filters are no longer available.

the new YZZD1 is for 6 Cylinders, the YZZD3 is for V8's

A 20004 filter should not be used on an IS .

Anyone know why the switch over to the new V8 filters? I know that Toyota had carried an abundance of different filters for the vehicles, but why would they switch over to someting else--better (or worse), just plain cheaper?

Anyone with more info?
