Default Battery protector gel/spray/washer - do you use it?

Whether on a new car or after the dealer replaces the battery, I've noticed they never use any sort of battery protector for the terminals. I've seen terminals get pretty crusty after a few years. Seems like the 99 cent oil-soaked washers you see at the auto parts store, or any of the various battery protection sprays or gels would be cheap insurance. Is there any reason not to use them?

You can use a spray grease or a light film of silicone. Both work great. I like the silicone since you can remove it pretty easy when needing to remove battery/terminals.
