Default Snow Tires on Extra Rims - TPMS?

I just bought an extra set of Lexus LX570 wheels/rims to mount my snow tires on. They came with rubber and TPMS still inside the tire. Tomorrow, I am picking up snow tires and want to mount them on the rims. However, after reading a few threads about the TPMS system in my 2009 LX570, it seems to suggest that I need to have the dealer program the TPMS system every time the tires are changed with their scantool. Is this true? If so, what do people who want to keep 2 sets of wheels on hand and mounted on rims (one winter, one for summer) do?

Is it true that I need the dealer to program or reset the TPMS sensors and system after every wheel change? Or will it just teach itself (like my Porsche)? Input greatly appreciated!

OK, let me rephrase my question.

Is it possible to have two SETS of wheels (each of 4) with TPMS that are separately programmed to the car (i.e. can the car remember 8 TPMS sensors)? Or does this have to be reset each time you change your wheels (i.e. it can only remember 4?)

If someone could let me know, that would be great. Thanks.

OK, I think I found the answer in this thread:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...now-tires.html

I believe the answer is "yes", provided that I add the codes for both sets of TPMS sensors as they describe. Can anyone confirm that this is indeed correct? Thanks in advance.

I just went through this with my '15 LX, unfortunately only 5 TPMS IDs (4 wheels & spare) can be registered. Yes you will need to have the dealer program the TPMS ID registry everytime the wheels are changed. I keep a record of the summer and winter TPMS IDs and give them to the tech to speed up the process, usually 1/2 hr of labor to update at each seasonal change.

Ok I just had 4 new tires and TMPS installed at discount tire. They installed and when I drove off everything was programed. I did not see them do any thing special?

From what I've read online since I've posted this, it does indeed appear that the TPMS "registry" settings need to be tweaked every time wheels (with different sensors) are installed. So, I've gone ahead and purchased a TPMS Quickset device (referred to in an IS thread, I'll post the link later) and I'll just keep it in my garage for when I do my seasonal changeovers.

Good idea Vlad, after reading something on the LS forum, I ordered one myself, along with the tool that lets me "read" the sensor IDs through the tire walls.
